My first theatre experience was…watching my sister play Polly Perkins in the Cronulla Arts Theatre production of Man from Mukinupin 1984
If I was a character in a play I'd be…Ruben Guthrie
I hate theatre when…one of the characters says ''I remember when I was 6"
Playwrights who inspire me ….Caryl Churchill, Lally Katz, Sam Shepherd
The best line that never made it into one of my plays is ... I thought I had brain cancer this morning. But then I realised I'd just had a coffee.
My best or worst moment working in the theatre was ... in the STC production of The Shape of Things 2003. I choked on an Orio in the final scene, it was literally wedged in my throat and I could not get it out. The audience thought it was all part of my characters painful finish. Then cast member Nick Flint came out and slapped me on the back and the Orio went flying into the audience and I completed the speech. I thought, I may die here.
Heroes or villains - whose side are you on… in a good character there is never one without the other
My last big laugh was about… how cool it would be to have GPS for ones every movement and life choice
My last big whinge was about…how hard it is to watch rugby league in Melbourne.
The role of theatre in 21st century Australia is…best supporting
