Author of the month
Nicki Bloom is a poet, playwright and novelist, and co-artistic director of theatre company nowyesnow. Her first play,
Tender,
was premiered in Belvoir’s 2007 B Sharp season and will come to the
Stables Theatre in a Griffin production at the end of the month.

Philip Parsons Memorial Lecture & Young Playwright’s Award
The
Philip Parsons Memorial Lecture 2008 will be
held at Belvoir St Upstairs Theatre on Sunday, 16 November at 2pm with
a talk by Artistic Director of the Melbourne International Arts
Festival, Kristy Edmunds, and the announcement of the 2008 recipient of
The Philip Parsons Young Playwright’s Award. This year, the three nominees are: Khoa Do, Jonathan Gavin and Caleb Lewis.
The Philip Parsons Young Playwright’s Award is presented annually to
a writer under the age of 35 whose work demonstrates an original and
compelling theatrical voice. The recipient is given a rare
opportunity—a paid commission to write a new work supported by Company

AFI Awards Nominations
Greg Haddrick and Brenda Pam have been nominated for an AFI Award in the category Best Television Drama Series for
Underbelly. Fingers crossed!
