“But look at us, where we are, what we are… Flinching from lorries, sorting carrots for money that is a joke to these people, living where they’d rather die than live… We are invisible people!”

A ruthless illegal immigrant rises to the top in a play exposing the underbelly of the labour market

Victor, a tough Ukrainian in his early 40s, arrives in the UK to join the illegal workforce and endure appalling conditions. With a combination of luck and grit—and the help of Anita, young, Scottish and very bright—he establishes his own business: an agency that supplies legitimate seasonal labour.

But Victor comes into conflict with his former boss and overreaches himself with fatal results. But not before he has enjoyed the good life and—incidentally—exposed the dubious morality of much of the British labour market…

Fast Labour is an epic play charting the rise and rise of a charismatic tough guy through the murky underworld of contract labour.
