Ruben Guthrie

Brendan Cowell

$17.23 ex GST
$18.95 inc GST
Ruben Guthrie is on fire. He’s 29, he’s the Creative Director of a cutting-edge advertising agency, he’s engaged to a Czech supermodel and Sydney is his oyster. He pours himself a drink to celebrate, a drink to work, a drink to sleep and one spectacular night he drinks so much he thinks he can fly.

Ruben Guthrie is Brendan Cowell’s brutally honest comedy about spiralling high, crashing hard and being taken to AA by your mum.

‘By general agreement, the leading light among stage writers of his generation’ The Sun Herald

Author

Brendan Cowell is an actor and writer. He won the prestigious Patrick White Playwrights’ Award for Bed in 2001, and his play ATM was presented by the 2002 Sydney Festival. In 2003 he won the Griffin Award for Rabbit, which the company subsequently produced. Later that year, Frantic Assembly’s production of the play toured the UK for ten weeks to rave reviews (London’s Guardian called it ‘desperately funny’ and awarded it four out of five stars). Morph and his adaptation of Seneca’s Thyestes were both produced by Sydney Theatre Company’s Blueprints program. Cowell is currently working on a number of new commissions for theatre, film and television and is Wharf 2Loud Director at Sydney Theatre Company.
