Author

Larry Sitsky, born in China of Russian-Jewish parents, travelled to Australia in 1951 and settled in Sydney. He studied piano from an early age and was granted a scholarship to the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music, where he studied piano and composition, graduating in 1955. He is probably Australia's most commissioned composer and has written everything from grand opera and large symphonic works to tiny teaching pieces. He has an international reputation as composer, pianist, musicologist and teacher and is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes. He is currently a Professor at the School of Music at the Australian National University in Canberra.
