This is the definitive guide to making a career out of making people laugh. If you’ve got a sense of humour, you can learn to make a career out of comedy, says Judy Carter. Whether it’s creating a killer stand-up act, writing a spec sitcom, or providing jokes for radio or one-liners for greeting cards, Carter provides step-by-step instructions in The Comedy Bible. She helps readers first determine which genre of comedy writing or performing suits them best and then directs them in developing, refining, and selling their work.

Review

Author

JUDY CARTER is a standup comic, corporate speaker, teacher, author, actress and businesswoman. She has appeared in comedy venues across the USA as well as many TV shows including Oprah, CNN, Good Morning America and Entertainment Tonight. In 1989 she formed Comedy Workshop Productions, which runs comedy classes nationwide in the US and produces the annual California Comedy Conference, attended by top Hollywood VIPs. In the past ten years Judy has successfully moved comedy out of the club room and into the boardroom, and her signature technique of turning ‘problems into punchlines’ has created a huge demand for her as a corporate and college speaker, generating feature stories in the Wall Street Journal, LA Times, New York Times and Success Magazine. Carter is also the author of Standup Comedy: The Book, which has sold over 150,000 copies.

She lives in Venice, California.
