Between 1938 and the outbreak of War, almost 10,000 unaccompanied German children were sent by their parents to foster homes in Britain while the parents were despatched to the death camps.

Kindertransport is a modern classic about one woman's struggle to come to terms with her past. Eva is brutally separated from her German Jewish parents at the age of nine, and brought to England with the promise of a new life. Forty years later she has changed her name and denied her roots. It is only when her own daughter discovers some old letters in the attic that Eva is forced to confront the truth about her past.

This edition also includes several personal memoirs by German-born children whose lives were saved, and transformed, by the Kindertransport.
