Christopher Latham began singing as a child in Brisbane and was treble soloist at St John’s Cathedral. He then spent ten years studying violin the United States, where he was active as a chamber musician and graduated from the San Francisco Conservatorium, won a student Grammy and other awards for excellence. In 1992 he joined the Australian Chamber Orchestra and toured nationally and internationally for seven years, during which time he formed his own group, the eclectic collective. In 1998 he took over the publishing operations of Boosey & Hawkes Australia, where he worked extensively as a music editor and represented their Australian composers, including Peter Sculthorpe, Ross Edwards, Richard Meale, Brett Dean, Liza Lim, Matthew Hindson, Carl Vine, Graeme Koehne and Elena Kats-Chernin; and Boosey’s international composers. He is currently artistic director of the Four Winds Easter Music Festival in Bermagui, NSW, and works freelance as a musician, composer advocate and music programmer for a variety of organisations.

In the 1970s, 80% of arts funding went to individuals; today 80% goes to institutions. The arts are dominated by giant corporations who spend a growing percentage on administration.
