Biography
FRIEDRICH SCHILLER (1759-1805) was a German poet, philosopher, historian and playwright. Verdi based four of his operas on Schiller's including:
Don Carlos. Schiller struck up a productive friendship with Goethe and together than founded the Weimar Theatre which became the leading theater in Germany. Their collaboration helped lead to a dramatic renaissance in Germany. His plays include:
The Maid of Orleans, The Robbers, William Tell, The Wallenstein Trilogy and
Mary Stuart.
