Jean Racine (1639-1699) was, along with Molière and Corneille, the most important French dramatist of his era. He was widely regarded as the greatest 17th century French tragedian, both observing and transcending the conventions of classical tragedy.

Neil Bartlett is one of Britain's most renowned and innovative theatre artists. He is a director, performer, translator, and writer, and also served as Artistic Director at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith from 1994 until 2004.

Robert David MacDonald was an award-winning playwright and translator. He died in May 2005.
