Stories of Love and Hate was made in response to the 2005 Cronulla Riots. It traces the lives and loves of the passionate people who were there.
In Fast Cars and Tractor Engines, ordinary people tell extraordinary stories about the fight of their lives as cultures collide, punches are dodged and youthful confessions of love are shared.
Set in a boxing ring, I’m Your Man explores notions of masculinity, courage and respect.
ROSLYN OADES is an Australian theatremaker and dramaturg known for her innovative approaches to documentary theatre and immersive installation experiences. Her original works for stage include: Creation Creation (Windmill/national tour), Hello, Goodbye & Happy Birthday (Malthouse/Melbourne Festival/national tour), I’m Your Man (Belvoir/Sydney Festival/national tour), Stories of Love & Hate (Utp/STC/NSW tour), Fast Cars & Tractor Engines (Utp/NSW tour) and In A Deep Dark Forest (Arts Centre Melbourne/national tour). Her installation works include: Cell 26, an audio work experienced in a prison cell bed (for Ulumbarra, former Bendigo Gaol site), Sea Stories, a communal audio experience for sunrise (commissioned by the Commonwealth Games Arts & Culture program, Gold Coast), and The Nightline (co-created with Bob Scott) a mysterious interactive listening club for insomniacs commissioned by RISING Festival, followed by presentations at Sydney Festival, Adelaide Festival, Bleach Festival and the Carrefour International de Theatre Festival in Quebec, Canada. She is the recipient of a Creative Australia Fellowship (Theatre) and a special Greenroom Award for Technical Achievement in acknowledgement of her pioneering body of headphone-verbatim plays (2005-2017).
