GRACE CHAPPLE is a playwright and screenwriter based on Gadigal land in Sydney, Australia. Grace’s debut play, Never Closer, received a sold-out, critically acclaimed run at Belvoir Street Theatre in the company’s 2024 season. Never Closer was originally produced as part of Belvoir’s 25A independent program, for which it received an AWGIE nomination for Best Stage Play (Original), before being remounted in the theatre’s mainstage season. Never Closer has also been shortlisted for the Griffin Award, the Rodney Seaborn Award, the Shane & Catherine Brennan Playwriting Award, and longlisted for Theatre503’s International Playwriting Award. Grace has been awarded residencies at Sydney Theatre Company and Bundanon Trust, and is an alumna of writing programs from NIDA, the Australian Theatre for Young People, and the Australian Writers’ Guild.
